Improve Your Yoga Practice Even If You Don’t Do Yoga!
With conscious breath
Yoga in itself means Union. Body, mind & breath. Together in unison.
Through connecting with the breath, Yoga becomes a consistent meditation. This practice helps with keeping our daily focus clear, and our every action intentional.
Yoga poses by design, lean towards strengthening the body, rather than stretching it. In fact, when your muscles are feeling stretched, they want to pull back even tighter. So it’s best not to push your muscle range beyond capacity. When you are posing, pause when you feel tension.
Somatic breath work motivates my students through their practice.
It works like this. While squeezing the tense muscle tight, empty your lungs as much as possible. Hold if you can. Then with a slow in breath, relax and breathe deep into the space you are releasing.
Repeat until that tension melts away.
It usually only takes a few breaths. You may also feel heat building in that area. Lactic acid is being freed and it is quite a normal sensation. This works throughout your day. Whenever and wherever you feel tightness.
Most important is that the breath is deep and slow.
